Roy Connelly has created pictures throughout his working life. He became a full-time
painter in 2004 after more than twenty years travelling the world as a television
cameraman.
He is largely self taught but has studied with many NEAC painters including Tom
Coates, Richard Pikesley and Jason Bowyer.
His preferred method of working involves painting from life by the direct observation
of his subject. He works outside throughout the year. His paintings are usually
completed in a single session which helps him to capture the time the picture was
created as well as the place.
He has exhibited widely including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the
New English Art Club and Royal Society of British Artists. In 2008 he was honoured
to be an invited artist at the Discerning Eye exhibition in London and in 2009 won the
Chelsea Art Society Award for a Painting.
His paintings can be found in private collections in the UK and Europe.
